People of border areas demand launching spl recruitment drive in their areas Mehbooba assures to look into the demand, take appropriate steps

KATHUA, NOVEMBER 20 (KNO) : During the two Public Outreach programmes convened by the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti at Samba yesterday and Kathua today, residents of border areas sought launching a special recruitment drive for their youth and payment of compensation for the crops and land in use by Army and other security forces. At Kathua today, several deputations from the border areas demanded enhancement in and payment of rent for their land under use by Army and other security forces. They also sought launch of a special recruitment drive in Army, Police and other security forces for the youth of border areas in view of the difficult situations they have been living in. A similar demand, besides other welfare measures, had also come yesterday from the residents of Chammb, Chamliyal and other border areas of Samba district during the Chief Minister’s public outreach programme there. The Chief Minister assured the deputations of border areas of the two districts to look into their demands and take appropriate steps. She appreciated the people of border areas for facing the difficulties due to intermittent shelling and firing across the border with determination. Several Ministers and legislators; Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Rohit Kansal; Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr. M K Bhandari; IGP Jammu zone, Dr. SDS Jamwal; senior officers from the Chief Minister’s Secretariat and Planning Department; heads of several Departments; Chiefs of many Engineering wings; DIG, SKR, Rafeeq ul Hassan; Deputy Commissioners of Kathua and Samba and officers of respective District administrations were present during these programmes. The public outreach programmes launched by the Chief Minister have evoked an interesting response from the public who come up with their problems for an on the spot redressal (KNO)
